After a first release in 2022, the Moanin' Birds odyssey goes on: Tom Bourgeois and Fil Caporali continue their sonic exploration with Prophets & Profits. This new opus goes beyond boundaries, navigating between mystery and clarity, tension and suspension, with an equal balance of melodic and rhythmic freedom.
Deeply rooted in contemporary jazz and enriched by their classical and Brazilian influences, their music sculpts a dialogue of exceptional richness, where every note resonates like an enigma and every silence tells a story. Between shifting textures and subtle counterpoints, the shadow of Hitchcock still hovers, carried by reminiscences of Bernard Herrmann and Bela Bartók. But this time, the adventure stretches to new horizons, revealing new soundscapes and an ever-honed musical complicity.
With this second album, Bourgeois and Caporali create a vibrant, cinematic work, where instinct and mastery combine to weave a free, poetic and deeply inhabited music.
