From dark valleys to snowy peaks, evergreen forests to sheer cliffs, ARISE is an ode to the mountains composed by Amaury Faye, a homage to his alpinist grandfathers.
From this limitless source of inspiration Amaury Faye brings forth an instrumental suite, presented as a triptych. The three parts follow the idea of ascent; from the heart of the valleys, into the harshness of a steep climb, along precipitous paths and to the peace of the eternal summits.
"They were the ones that showed me these majestic places that
resonate so intensely with me."
To bring this music to life using both rigorous writing and unbridled improvisation; Amaury decided to bring together the string quartet from the Toulouse Chamber Orchestra, New York rising star Julian Lee and his own trio of hungry up and comers.
Arise is a project in the image of its musicians bringing together jazz, classical, film score and modern music for an epic journey through lush valleys, crystalline lakes to frosted moutaintops.
Recorded by Valentin Mattedi in July 2022 at Salle Nougaro in Toulouse, France
Mixed by Jonas Verrijdt and Giuseppe Millaci at WallStudio in Brussels, Belgium
Mastered by Dave Darlington at Bass Hit Studio in New York, USA
Artwork and design by Romain Barbot
