The Jazz Station Big Band is the "in-house" band of the Brussels jazz club Jazz Station, founded in 2006.
This typically Belgian (as it is polyglot) band has become an actual platform, having played with many of the key players on the Belgian jazz scene, as well as some of the big international names (Jason Rebello, Emil Viclicky, Grégoire Maret, etc.).
Another distinctive feature of this big band is that its members leverage their monthly meetings at the Jazz Station to experiment with writing and arranging originals, thus stimulating the creative production of original Belgian works.
The Jazz Station big band was lucky enough to play with a true harmonica genius at the Dinant Jazz Festival (2017): Grégoire Maret. A New Yorker (of Swiss origin) and close friend of Toots Thielemans, he has really taken over from the latter in recent years. He has performed alongside some of the world's greatest musicians, including Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Madeleine Peyroux and Stevie Wonder.
The collaboration between Grégoire Maret and the Jazz Station Big Band is extremely interesting, as both the band and the harmonica player have proposed original pieces, arranged by the band members themselves.
The success of this encounter was immediate and dazzling.
Recorded by RTBF/Musiq3 in July 2017 in Dinant, Belgium
Mixed by Jonas Verrijdt at WallStudio in Brussels, Belgium
Mastered by Dave Darlington in New York, USA
Produced by Hypnote Records asbl
