Serenity Island offers a story that spans eight years, revealing the different emotions that ran through pianist/composer Nuphar Fey's various travels and experiences. Composed over a period of several years during which she lived in several European countries and Israel, the album presents a wide range of influences, tastefully combining them to capture a unique musical imprint.
Featuring ten original works, the album is built around Nuphar's trio, in the classic format of piano, double bass and drums, subtly blended with voice, cello and percussion. With a singular imagination and orchestral approach, the recordings were made in successive layers where melodic and harmonic instruments are overlaid on the trio, leading to surprising textures and wide sounds. Designed as a collage, Serenity Island succeeds with elegance in offering music that is both personal and universal.
