“Live in Brussels” opens the road to the "musical road-trip" of pianist Amaury Faye and his two acolytes Louis Navarro and Théo Lanau: a work in steady progression over five years, which will span over five live albums in five European capitals.
Recorded in March 2018 at the Jazz Station by Belgian national radio (RTBF - Musiq'3), Brussels, where the current trio was founded, is the starting point for this adventure.
Through a high-flying repertoire of original compositions and standards by George Gershwin, Thelonious Monk and Jerome Kern, the trio delivers an exceptionally mature performance, where virtuosity, risk-taking and surprises mix up with meditative, contemplative and mysterious moments. Amaury Faye, Louis Navarro and Théo Lanau rise to the challenge with brio: a one-shot album that can only be enjoyed by music lovers as well as neophytes.
Recorded by Benjamin Vandenbroucke and Guillaume Desmet at Jazz Station in Brussels, Belgium for RTBF
Mixed and mastered in June 2018 by Guillaume Desmet at Elias Recording in Ixelles, Belgium
Release date: October 26, 2018
